Cullen Winter
Cullen Winter has been a Taos music mainstay for fifteen years. A classically trained jazz drummer, Winter is no stranger to the stage-he's been playing music since he was eleven. It wasn't until after high school that Winter picked up the guitar and developed the incredible lead prowess heard in "The Usual". Between 1991 and 1997 Cullen Winter bounced between countless instruments, jobs, and bands. In that time he was largely responsible for getting the Taos blues scene off the ground, and in that time he became one of the most important musicians in Taos. Going it solo starting in 1997 has yielded hundreds of shows at the Alley Cantina, as well as oodles of respect from musicians regionally. "The Usual" displays perfectly Cullen Winter's passion for music: it isn't contrived, it isn't trying too hard-this song, like Cullen himself, is just plain good at what it does.
